Like marble, travertine was used by the ancient Romans as a building material and was used to build the Colosseum, the largest building in the world made mostly of travertine. Travertine comes in warm creamy colors and is commonly used for vanities, fireplaces, tiles and other areas that maintain the appearance of this softer stone.
